Fetching

Pattern: Knitty.com

Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft Aran 57% extra fine merino; 33% microfibre; 10% cashmere
Needles: Size 8
Completed: February 1, 2007

Notes: I followed this pattern pretty much verbatim. However, I decided, after looking at the picot bind-off, just to use a regular bind-off. Struggled with the thumbs a bit, as I had trouble making sure there weren’t holes at the sides of the opening, but finally got them to suit me. I love, love, love this yarn. It felt wonderful to knit with. It feels awesome to wear. I must make more of these.

Hildi Hat (Sans the suede trimming)

Pattern: Berroco #238 Accessorize

Yarn: Berroco Vibe in Color 4509 (Green Door) (Slightly over one ball)

Needles: Size 13 16-inch Circular Needles and Double Points

Completed: February 3, 2007

Notes: I opted not to include the suede trim on this one. In addition, I did a little improvising on the tassles as I had never attached a crochet chain. However, overall, I am pleased. I am certain my ear flaps are slightly off center, but they actually fit me pretty well. I had originally planned to make mittens, but am opting for a matching scarf instead.

Here’s hoping that I get a headstart on the next set of colors! This was my first time to use this yarn and I love the way it patterned up. I purchased the yarn at a store in my old college town, as it was recommended by the clerk there. She was a fan. Reasonable buy.
